Theme: "Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of God to help us" Text: Hebrews 8:1-6
1. The main point of what has just been said is that we have such a high priest, who sat at the right hand of the throne of divine majesty in heaven, 2. as minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle, which was erected by the Lord and not by a man. 3. Every high priest is appointed to present offerings and sacrifices; whence it is necessary that this one also has something to present. 4. If he were on earth, he would not even be a priest, since there are those who present offerings according to the law 5. (who worship, image and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was divinely warned when he was going to build the tabernacle: Take care, he was told, to do everything according to the model that was shown to you on the mountain). 6. But now he has obtained a so much higher ministry, as he is the mediator of a more excellent covenant, which has been established on better promises.
Let's remember:
Hallelujah! Jesus is a priest because he is the only one who could burn the world offering before the Father. He was able to enter the divine tabernacle clothed in sin, not as a common sinner but as a representative of the sinful race; though he did not commit any. He offered himself the shameful happiness of bearing ignominy for faults he did not commit. And as such, Jesus is at the same time the sacrifice and the priest. In the single person of Jesus, there is this double identity of priest and sacrifice. He brought before God the sacrifice that he himself was. As if that were not enough, he continues to plead our cause with the Father, day and night to preserve us from the paternal chicote. Until this day, Jesus is a sacrifice because he prays for us for free without asking anything from us, without expecting anything from us. To close the loop, it covers us and accompanies us everywhere and every day. He is with us every day until the end of time. After the atoning work of the cross, Jesus obtained a ministry so much higher as he is the mediator of a more excellent covenant, established on better promises. He mediates, frames and helps us talk to God the Father. He is the link between God and his creation made of humans. All this work allows us to say, without risk of error, that Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of God to come to our aid. Excellent Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
