Theme: "How to give to God for the recovery of his community?" Text: Leviticus 19:9-11
9. When you reap in your land, you will leave a corner of your field unharvested, and you will not gather what remains to be gleaned. 10. Neither shall you pick the grapes that remain in your vineyard, nor pick up the grains that fall from them. You will leave it to the poor and the stranger. I am the Lord your God. 11. You shall not steal, nor lie or deceive one another.
Let's remember:
The teaching that the Lord God transmits to us on this day concerns the sharing of a part of our goods. The image that is given in the text relates to agriculture but we know that it is about any productive activity. For each income-generating activity, God tells us to take a part that should not go back to the owner. Regardless of the harvest season, sales season or payment frequency, we must reserve a significant portion of our work for community use. The reserved portion must be used to help strangers, the destitute and all those who are helpless or inactive. Let us not forget that the servants of God are also dependent on the faithful. Let us not forget them when the harvest season arrives. In addition, this text brings out the prototype of the tithe since it is necessary to leave a corner of the field without harvesting it, and not to pick up what remains to be gleaned. It is a portion of the salary that must not be spent, this small part must be kept for God and his Church. It is a question of learning to save what belongs to God, to the community, to the stranger, to the widow, to the destitute, to the orphan... If we integrate this notion of saving into our Christian life, give God will become child's play especially as we contribute with joy and sincere love. When we take care to save for the community and for God, it is out of the question to get our hands on this portion already consecrated to God at the risk of being unfaithful and unstable in our forecasts. Excellent Wednesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
