Theme: “Healing of body and soul"
Text: Jeremiah 18:1-10
1. The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, in these words: 2. Arise, and go down into the potter's house; There, I will make you hear my words. 3. I went down to the potter's house, And behold, he was working on a wheel. 4. The vase he made fails, As happens to the clay in the potter's hand; He made another vase, As he saw fit to do. 5. And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying: 6. May I not do unto you as this potter, house of Israel? Says the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so you are in my hand, O house of Israel! 7. Suddenly I speak, over a nation, over a kingdom, To uproot, to cut down and to destroy; 8. But if this nation, about which I have spoken, turns back from its wickedness, I repent of the harm that I had thought of doing to it. 9. And suddenly I speak, upon a nation, upon a kingdom, To build and to plant; 10. But if this nation does what is wrong in my eyes, And does not listen to my voice, I repent of the good that I had intended to do to it.
Let's remember:
A person or a nation can be in bad shape because of bad deeds. She must win back the heart of God through repentance for God to grant her healing of body and soul. If a pot which has been badly made by a potter must be remade until a good result is obtained; just as the potter repents and decides to do better, so the person or the nation must make the decision to behave better before God for the sin to be blotted out. A sin is an illness that requires the healing of body and soul. To recover from an illness is to restore health to someone. God is our doctor, he is the treatment that cures our diseases. To heal is to deliver from a moral evil. You can get over a bad habit. To heal is to recover, to recover health. It is to make the effects of a moral ill, a defect, a sin disappear... With God, we have the healing of the body and the soul, provided that we know how to recognize our ill-being, that repent and ask him to help us. Excellent healing Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
