Theme : “ He Ascended to Heaven ”
Text : John 16:28
28. I came out of the Father, and came into the world; now I leave the world, and I go to the Father.
Let's remember:
The resurrection of Jesus was already a strong expression of the power of God. God raised him, delivering him from the bonds of death, because it was not possible for him to be held back by it. It is the fulfillment of King David's prophecy as recorded in Psalm 16:10. The resurrection was the first stage of Jesus' journey back to his Father and ours. The outward journey began in heaven and ended in death and burial. After having followed all of God's instructions, Jesus therefore had to return to his Father; completely satisfied to have accomplished his mission flawlessly. But what the world did not know was that Jesus would take to the air to return home. One could not imagine such a scenario although written in advance. Jesus did it, took off like a helicopter. The disciples had only their eyes to contemplate this scene worthy of a Hollywood fiction film. It was neither a trick nor a figment of the mind, even less a dream but a removal if not an elevation concluding the physical stay of Jesus on earth. He ascended to heaven.
