Theme : “ He Ascended to Heaven ”
Text : Acts 1:9-11
9. After saying this, he was lifted up while they looked at him, and a cloud hid him from their sight. 10. And as they gazed up at heaven while he was going away, behold, two men clothed in white appeared to them, 11. and said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand still to look up into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up to heaven from among you, will come in the same way as you saw him going to heaven.
Let's remember:
Before being raised to God, Jesus had left a roadmap for his disciples. But above all he had endowed them with the Holy Spirit in all his power. Finally, he had revealed to them that they would become his disciples. Jesus therefore gave the Mission, the means (Holy Spirit) and the results (witnesses). If Jesus had not clearly explained to his disciples what they would become after him, he would have left them with questions and anguish. Fortunately, the Holy Spirit taking over consolidated their faith, bringing their minds into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Jesus could then be lifted up to the Father; happy to have finished his mission; certain to have left the relief; satisfied to have saved humanity. Mission accomplished in full. Therefore, let us not remain there motionless, looking up to heaven in emotion, as the disciples did; rather let us pray and thank God for the gift of Jesus and for the wonders of his work. Jesus is lifted up to the sky without propeller, without propeller, without hurricane but in the serenity which characterizes him. While Jesus is being lifted up, we too lift up our hearts to God and give thanks for everything. Excellent Ascension Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
