Theme: “Have no fear»
Text: Isaiah 43:1-5
1. Thus now says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob! He who formed you, O Israel! Fear nothing, for I redeem you, I call you by your name: you are mine! 2. If you cross the waters, I will be with you; And the rivers, they will not overwhelm you; If you walk in the fire, you will not burn yourself, And the flame will not burn you. 3. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your saviour; I give Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Sheba in your place. 4. Because you are precious in my eyes, Because you are honored and I love you, I give men in your place, And peoples for your life. 5. Fear nothing, for I am with you; I will bring back your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west.
Let's remember:
The main reason that keeps us from being afraid is our redemption. We were unfaithful and execrable before the face of God. We lived in sin feeling falsely comfortable. But God took pity on our condition of life by detaching us from this tragic illusion. The Lord has redeemed us at the price of his immense love. Israel was very unfaithful to the Lord; and yet Yahweh forgave his faults. Despite this privilege, God comes to add a good dose of comfort: Do not be afraid, because I redeem you, I call you by your name: you are mine! Supreme happiness, the Lord loves us. From now on, nothing will be able to prevent us from advancing towards our tomorrows. The waters, the rivers, the fire, the flames… would no longer be enough to block our course. No obstacle can stand before us to the point of preventing us from moving towards spiritual excellence. Eternal life in Jesus Christ is our inheritance; what better ? Yahweh honors us and gives us gifts spread out along our earthly journey. Nations and peoples are given to us for possession. Let's take away the fear. Excellent Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
