Growing in Faith

Tuesday January 23, 2024

Theme: “Growing in Faith

Text: Genesis 15:1-6

1. After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, and he said, Abram, fear not; I am your shield, and your reward will be very great. 2. Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me? I am leaving without children; and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus. 3. And Abram said, Behold, thou hast given me no seed, and he that is born in my house shall be my heir. 4. Then the word of the LORD came to him: He will not be your heir, but he who comes from your body will be your heir. 5. And when he had brought him out, he said, Look toward heaven, and count the stars, if you can number them. And he said unto him, This shall be thy seed. 6. Abram trusted in the LORD, who counted it to him as righteousness.

Let's remember:

Abram trusted in his God. He closed his eyes from his doubts. He immediately stopped the reasoning and the questioning. Abram had the favor of arguing with God. He exchanged with his God; who is also our God. He expressed his disappointment with God to show him his desolation. He discussed with his creator to dispel all doubts and better understand the mind of God. We often do not understand the ways of God, therefore we do not know how to conduct ourselves while we wait for the promise to come. When the Lord God makes us a promise, he seals it with a seal that the evil one cannot erase. What he says is what happens. Between God's promise and its fulfillment, there may be a long time that we can use to count the stars. God will take us out of the confinement that prevents our faith from growing and seeing the stars. He will lead us outside to contemplate an open horizon filled with countless stars; horizon that determines the extent of our blessing. The Lord God helps us to move forward and grow in faith. If our faith fails to grow after seeing the expanse of the stars, our God will count nothing against us as righteousness. If God's promises and starry evidence do not grow our faith, we will never move toward said promises. We will rather be in desolation while waiting for these promises. If we believe in God's promise, our faith will grow. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
