Theme: "Greed and its consequences in the life of a citizen" Text: Ephesians 5:1-3

1. Become therefore imitators of God, like beloved children; 2. and walk in charity, after the example of Christ, who loved us, and gave himself to God for us as a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice. 3. Let not immorality, any kind of impurity, and covetousness even be named among you, as befits saints.

Let's remember:

Greed is defined as an immoderate desire for money, wealth. A greedy is a selfish person, a greedy person for money. He is a worshiper of the god Mamon, an idolater according to Colossians 3:5. The heart of a citizen must be filled with the desire to please God, to be pleasing to Him, to make him happy as a young bridegroom wants to please his princess bride. Let's not extrapolate, it's about greed and not just the need for money. The greedy allows himself to be used by money, he is not its master but its slave. It is legitimate to have money needs; it is very important to work to earn money. What is condemned is manifesting an obsession to the point of suffering when one has no money; It is to live for the money; to hurt others in order to have it and still be possessive; unable to share his money with others. However, we must be charitable, selfless, generous, prodigal and full of love for our neighbour. In this same register, there are parallel vices that we can identify with the example of pleonexia which designates the desire to always possess more, to have more than others in everything, to take more than what we returns or, conversely less of this thing if it is harmful or if it presents an inconvenience. We can also extrapolate by talking about the citizen who always wants to be right about others even when all the evidence and all the facts are against him. Greed is an unbridled addiction, a "fierce" covetousness, a pronounced and aggressive relentlessness on the money for oneself whatever the cost. Let us become imitators of God, moderate and modest, kind and caring. At the limit, offer our heritage in sacrifice if it can help others to earn a living. Greed is close to immodesty, impurity… A greedy person ends up embezzling funds, stealing, raping, killing, cheating, he will do all the harm to win, regardless of the means. Greed is immoral, it even degrades the lives of friends and families. It makes people poor and ends up in prison. Excellent Monday. Amen Alain Louz.-
