Theme: "God's Purposes for the Welfare of His People" Text: 1 John 3:7-14
7. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices justice is just, as he himself is just. 8. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil sins from the beginning. The Son of God appeared to destroy the works of the devil. 9. Whoever is born of God does not practice sin, because the seed of God remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10. It is by this that the children of God and the children of the devil are recognized. Anyone who does not do justice is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. 11. For it was spoken to you and what you heard from the beginning, that we must love one another, 12. and not be like Cain, who was of the evil one, and who killed his brother. And why did he kill him? because his works were evil, and his brother's works were righteous. 13. Do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you. 14. We know we have passed from death to life, because we love brethren. He who does not love remains in death.
Let's remember:
God is holy and as such, according to his plan, each believer must be holy. Since the creation of the world, he has planted the scene of holiness but this was quickly destroyed by the evil serpent. And ever since then, God's intimacy with his people has been seriously damaged by sin. But God does not abandon his subjects, he calls us to abandon evil. Among the primary purposes of God for the welfare of his people is holiness. We cannot be a holy people of God and remain in sin. The Lord God wants us to be like Him. Like father, like son. It is written: “Then God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let him rule over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over cattle, over all the earth, and over all the creeping things that crawl on the earth” Genesis 1:26. To dominate over animals, you have to look like God because the dog goes back to eating what he puked; the pig goes back to wallowing in the mud after the bath. If man goes back to sin after the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, what is the difference with animals? God's purpose for the welfare of his Christian people is for us to be holy as he is. God wants us to be vigilant so that no one deceives us. He wants those who practice justice to be just, as he himself is just. God's purpose for his people is to keep us alive by remaining in his love. Anyone who does not live the love of God remains in death. To love God and his neighbour, such is God's plan for the people won over to his cause. Excellent Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
