Theme: "God provides for our needs."

Text: Matthew 6:27-34

27. Which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his stature? 28. And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, but they are not clothed with the garments of the field. 29. Yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30. If God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31. Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or wherewith shall we be clothed? 32. For all these things the Gentiles seek after. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Let us remember:

Every murmur or worry is further proof of our lack of trust in God. This is our way of being like the children of Israel in the desert, they complained despite the many miracles. God always provided for their needs but they were insensitive. Are we not like the children of Israel? When our tomorrow is visibly uncertain, we complain when we should be praying. Instead of giving thanks, we worry. We even blame God by accusing him of abandoning us to our sad fate. Let us proceed differently: let us strip ourselves of our worries and lay them at the feet of Jesus so that He can take care of them. Let us let the One who provides for our needs do it. Worries do not solve any problem. Rather, they reveal that we do not have enough faith to claim to be called children of God. Especially since worries do not make us move forward. They do not expedite the resolution of our situation but they delight the devil because falling into worries is playing into the devil's hands. We have a God who provides for our needs at the right time, according to His grace. We just have to give Him all the time necessary according to His schedule. We are subjects and He, God, is the King. No pressure can move Him because He is immovable. Let us not worry about anything but in everything, let us make our needs known to God through prayers, supplications with thanksgiving. Thus, the peace of God will fill our hearts and drive away worries. Let us rather work for our entrance into eternal life than whine for daily needs. Excellent Sunday. Amen
