Theme: “God Grows the Church“
Text: 1 Corinthians 3:5-11
5. What then is Apollos, and what is Paul? Servants, through whom you have believed, as the Lord has given to each one. 6. I planted, Apollos watered, but God made it grow, 7. so that it is not the planter who is something, nor the waterer, but God who makes it grow. 8. He who plants and he who waters are equal, and each will receive his own reward according to his own work. 9. For we are workers with God. You are God's field, God's building. 10. According to the grace of God given to me, I have laid the foundation like a wise builder, and another is building on it. But let everyone be careful how he builds on it. 11. For no man can lay any other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Let's remember:
The Church is the field, the building of God and each Christian is a worker with God. According to the traditional classification of labourers, some mobilize the money to buy the tools, the seeds and even the hectares to be cultivated; others weed and clear the soil, still others make furrows, there are some who drain the water towards the furrows, some others plant while others water in short, each worker gets busy in his task. At the end of each player's work, there remains one area that no one can master: growth. Nobody has ever seen with the naked eye, the precise moment when the growth takes place by noting the millimeters that are added. God alone holds this power and this secret. Only God makes creatures grow at his own pace and at his will. Our participation is not the least in the field of God; however, do not take credit for the growth of any work to make it the fruit of our effort. When we sleep, God adds moral, physical, spiritual, intellectual growth… and when we wake up, we see evolution. Church growth is God's preserve. Let us avoid interfering in this area at the risk of incurring the wrath of God. Excellent Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
