Theme: “Future Judgments of Christ's Return“
Text: Luke 21:20-24
20. When you see Jerusalem invaded by armies, know then that its desolation is near. 21. Then let those who are in Judea flee into the mountains, let those who are in the midst of Jerusalem come out, and let those who are in the fields not enter the city. 22. For these shall be days of vengeance, for the fulfillment of all that is written. 23. Woe to women who are pregnant and to those who breastfeed in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath against this people. 24. They shall fall by the edge of the sword, they shall be led captive among all the nations, and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the nations, until the times of the nations are fulfilled.
Let's remember:
The love of God manifested by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, is a pure and sincere love. By this love, he shows us the way to escape the decline of life, when persecution will prevail over peace. Our Lord Jesus Christ predicts the great distress to come but he gives the appropriate solution to get out of it better. The disciples and the people who will be in Judea must flee to the mountains; and let those who are in the midst of Jerusalem depart therefrom; and that those who will be in the countryside do not enter into it. For these will be days of vengeance; that all the things which are written may be fulfilled. To flee, such is the orientation given by Jesus Christ. Invasion is a kind of judgment, judgment of people and nations by their oppressors. To whom shall we flee? Isn't it towards the mountain? God is our mountain: “I raise my eyes to the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” Psalms 121:1-2. When we see the oppression of the devil assailing us, let us flee to God so as not to serve the devil; that would be the greatest exposure to divine judgment. Excellent Friday and good start into the weekend. Amen Alain Louz.-
