Theme: “Fraternity, one of the facets of communion“
Text: 1 John 1:3-6
3. What we have seen and heard we announce to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us. Now, our communion is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4. And we write these things, that our joy may be perfect. 5. The news we have heard from him, and which we bring to you, is that God is light, and there is no darkness in him. 6. If we say we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we are lying, and we are not practicing the truth.
Let's remember:
Communion is real when it is lived in total submission to God. It is incompatible with the works of darkness, the dead works. Communion is one of the results of brotherhood. Thus said, it is not tolerable to combine fraternity and discord since to lead to communion, fraternity must be clear and without reproach. If communion finds one of its foundations in fraternity, fraternity itself is based on sincere and true love, without hypocrisy. We say it without hesitation, there is no communion outside of love of neighbour. Thus, whoever does not share the Word of God with his neighbor should not praise any brotherhood with him. To love one's neighbor is to accompany him in prayer, the breaking of bread, listening to the Word of God and in several other forms of assistance. It is this brotherhood that results in communion. True communion must have strong roots maintained by brotherhood. If not, how will we be in fellowship if we tear each other apart or disregard our neighbour? Fellowship is in the light, just as fellowship is a reflection of the light of God. Excellent Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
