Theme : " Fear the coming judgment "
Text : Amos 5: 10-20
10. They hate the one who calls them at the door, and they abhor the one who speaks sincerely. 11. Therefore, because you have trodden down the poor, and taken grain from him as a gift, you have built houses of hewn stone, but you will not dwell in them; You have planted excellent vines, But you will not drink their wine. 12. For I know that your crimes are many, Your sins are multiplied; You oppress the righteous, you receive gifts, And you violate the rights of the poor at the door. 13. This is why, in times like these, the wise man is silent; Because these times are bad. 14. Seek good and not evil, that you may live, and so the LORD God of hosts may be with you, as you say. 15. Hate evil and love good, make righteousness reign in the gate; And perhaps the Lord, the God of hosts, will have mercy on the remains of Joseph. 16. Therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord; In all the squares we will lament, In all the streets we will say: Alas! Alas! The plowman will be called to mourning, And to lamentation those who utter laments. 17. In all the vineyards they will mourn when I pass through you, says the Lord. 18. Woe to those who desire the day of the Lord! What do you expect from the day of the Lord? He will be darkness and not light. 19. You will be like a man who flees from a lion and meets a bear, who comes to his home, leans his hand on the wall, and bites a serpent. 20. Is not the day of the Lord darkness and not light? Isn't it dark and dull?
Let us remember :
The day of God's wrath must call out to us individually. Everyone must carry their life in hand like a delicate pot that can break at the slightest shock. The pleasures of this century strengthen the wrath of God. Those who give it to their heart will not be able to escape the coming judgment. Woe to those who practice injustice, who oppress the righteous, who do all kinds of evil, God sharpens the sword of his anger against sinners. It is still possible to escape God's judgment by turning our once crooked ways back to Him and repenting solidly. On the day of judgment, nothing will be able to help us: people will flee everywhere to seek refuge; but they won't find any. Where they want to take refuge, there will be a serpent that will bite them; if they flee into the savannah, the lions will devour them, in the water they will be at the mercy of the crocodiles. You must hurry to give your heart to God now. Excellent Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
