Theme: “Family and holistic development“
Text: Isaiah 58:6-12
6. This is the fast in which I delight: Loosen the chains of wickedness, Loosen the bonds of bondage, Set the oppressed free, And let every yoke be broken; 7. Share your bread with the hungry, And bring the poor homeless into your house; If you see a naked man, cover him, And don't turn away from your fellow man. 8. Then your light will break forth like the dawn, And your healing will spring up quickly; Your righteousness shall go before you, and the glory of the Lord shall follow you. 9. Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; You will cry out, and he will say, Here I am! If you remove the yoke from your midst, Threatening gestures and insulting speeches, 10. If you give your own sustenance to the hungry, If you satisfy the needy soul, Your light will rise in the darkness, And your darkness will be like noon. 11. The LORD will always be your guide, He will satisfy your soul in dry places, And he will restore strength to your limbs; You will be like a watered garden, Like a spring whose waters never dry up. 12. Your people will rebuild on ancient ruins, You will raise ancient foundations; You will be called repairer of breaches, He who restores the roads, who makes the country habitable.
Let's remember:
We know the blessing comes from God; in the same way all development finds its source in Him; including holistic development. God very much wants us to have access to holistic development, however it is subject to several prerequisites. God is ready to bring us into this holistic development, but he wants us to make concessions. The Lord God wants us to give up every kind of wickedness, to loosen the bonds of bondage, to set the oppressed free. The Eternal calls us to the breaking of bread, to hospitality, to compassion, to social actions. The door of our home and that of our heart must always be open to our neighbour. Everyone can judge his own life and determine if he fits God's mold, if he fulfills his task according to God's expectations. Let us pray for each other and then follow our prayer with gestures of the heart, works of benevolence and charity. Let's get out of dry faith without works. God consummates our faith when it is well fattened by charitable works full of love. This is the gateway to holistic development. It is when we would have acted thus that God would take care of our whole life and that of ours. This is where God would answer us and do us good. Excellent Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
