Theme: “Family and holistic development“
Text: Genesis 2:15
15. The LORD God took the man, and placed him in the garden of Eden to tend it and to keep it.
Let's remember:
Holistic development is a principle of method according to which the analysis must start from the totality, the whole, the collective, which is more than the sum of the parts. Holism deals with topics from the general to the specific. If we have to find the antonym of holistic, we will lean towards reductionism which brings each domain back to its primary entity, that which is considered the most fundamental or the most basic. This is why, in speaking of the Family and its holistic development, we will focus our attention on the development of the family as a global entity without going into the small individualistic details. God, by placing man in the Garden of Eden, had taken care to assign him a mission of guardianship. Today, guarding has lost its luster but in the past, it was the only authority that God invests in man. However, in this garden, it was to be born other people of which it was also necessary to take care to keep them preciously. The parallel mission to that of the guard was that of cultivating the said garden. Alas nowadays, gardening or agriculture is struggling to increase in value in several sectors of the world, for lack of having misunderstood the scope of the original mission assigned to man in the Garden of Eden.
