Cultivating the land means participating in the restoration of creation

Theme: “Cultivating the land means participating in the restoration of creation

Text: Genesis 26:12-14

12. Isaac sowed in this land, and this year he reaped a hundredfold; for the LORD blessed him. 13. This man became rich, and he grew richer and richer, until he became very rich. 14. He had herds of flocks and herds of herds, and many servants: so the Philistines envied him.

Let's remember:

Cultivating the land means participating in the restoration of creation. Isaac cultivated the land in the land of Gerar, the land of the Philistines of which Abimelech was king. He valued the land through cultivation and breeding. The Lord blesses the fruit of his hands. He put all his heart into the work, and this year he collected a hundredfold; for the LORD blessed him. If we value the earth, God will bless us. The Lord God blesses the work of our hands. He rewards us every time we do His will written in His Word:  Deuteronomy 28:3. “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field.” Every blessing of God is subject to his obedience. Isaac remained faithful to God, even though he lied that Rebekah his wife was his sister; something that irritated Abimelech but God protected him. Working the land made Isaac prosper to such an extent that he became one of the richest in the country. Isaac became so rich that he aroused the lust of the Philistines. He grew richer and richer, until he became very rich, thanks to the produce of the land, namely agriculture and livestock. Every time we cultivate the land, we uncover the blessings hidden there. The best blessings are hidden in the ground; It’s up to us to find them by clearing the land. Excellent Sunday. Amen
