Theme : “ Covenant with God ”
Text : Deuteronomy 5:2-3
2. The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. 3. It is not with our fathers that the Eternal made this covenant; it is with us, who are here today, all alive.
Let's remember:
The Horeb covenant rested on man's supposed ability to fulfill his commitments; the covenant made with Abraham rested on God's ability to fulfill his promises and therefore cannot fail to be fulfilled. In Horeb, God spoke in the middle of the fire. That day, Moses had come between God and the people because the people were very afraid of both God and fire. At Horeb the people had promised to follow God's ways and produce works that would gladden their hearts. Today is our turn. Let's forget all the old covenants that our God had contracted with our ancestors. Everyone must have an individual covenant with the Lord because salvation is also individual. It is more effective to manage one's personal relationship with God than to follow a covenant based on promises made to another person. Let's build our own covenant which will be based on faithfulness and obedience to God. Let us respond to the covenant made with God without hiding behind parents or the Church. That each Christian revisits his covenant to verify if he still respects it. Excellent end of March. Amen Alain Louz.-
