Theme : “ Compassion in the Ministry of Jesus Christ ”
Text : Luke 7:11-17
11. The next day Jesus went to a town called Nain; his disciples and a large crowd traveled with him. 12. When he was near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried into the ground, the only son of his mother, who was a widow; and there were many townspeople with her. 13. The Lord, having seen her, was moved with compassion for her, and said to her, Weep not! 14. He approached, and touched the coffin. Those who carried it stopped. He said: Young man, I tell you, get up! 15. And the dead man sat down, and began to speak. Jesus gave him back to his mother. 16. All were seized with fear, and glorified God, saying, A great prophet has appeared among us, and God has visited his people. 17. This word about Jesus spread throughout all Judea and all the surrounding country.
Let's remember:
To this day, Jesus is still full of compassion. His compassion will not end until the day of judgment. When that day comes, he will no longer have compassion because he will be there as a just judge. According to our Bible reading today, Jesus could not bear to see this woman lose her only son. Jesus knows well the pain that God the Father suffered when he agreed to leave his throne to come and die in this low world and save us from sin. So, feeling this deep pain, Jesus had compassion on the woman. However, when Jesus feels compassion, he always finds the solution to solve the problem at hand. It was then that he brought the young man back to life. He returned it to his mother who was very happy; and the crowd with it. The compassion of Jesus consists in sharing the sufferings of his flock. It is therefore sympathy accompanied by solutions in the manner of Jesus. Let us accept Jesus wholeheartedly and take advantage of his compassion while he is our advocate. The day he will be our judge, it will be too late because he will condemn our vile acts without compassion. Excellent Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
