Theme : “ Compassion in the Ministry of Jesus Christ ”
Text : Mark 1:40-45
40. A leper came to him; and, falling on his knees, he said to him in an imploring tone: If you wish, you can make me pure. 41. Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out his hand, touched him, and said: I will, be pure. 42. Immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. 43. Jesus sent him away immediately, with severe warnings, 44. and said to him: Take care not to tell anyone; but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them. 45. But this man, having gone away, began to publicize the matter and to divulge it, so that Jesus could no longer enter a city publicly. He stood outside, in deserted places, and people came to him from all directions.
Let's remember:
Jesus had already “wanted” to come down to this world to bring deliverance to the captives. When the leper said to him “If you want, you can make me clean” this leper entered the field of action of Jesus. His faith manifested, his courage to stand before pure men, his humility as he falls to his knees, and pleading tone; all these ingredients were enough to trigger the compassion of Jesus Christ. So when compassion comes into play, nothing can stop it from delivering the captive from leprosy. The compassion of Jesus Christ triggered the miracle. A leper could not approach a pure person to avoid contaminating him. But Jesus, failing to speak only the word and proclaim healing, out of compassion, he stretched out his hand to touch the leper, without contaminating himself. The saint of God touched the defilement without defiling himself but by making the leper healthy. He transferred his purity to the leper because his compassion was solicited. Thus, let every Christian come and throw himself at the feet of Christ to seek sanctification in a pleading tone; his compassion will react. Excellent Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
