Theme: “Communion is also the sharing of goods“
Text: 1 Timothy 6:17-19
17. Recommend to the rich of this age not to be proud, and not to put their hope in uncertain riches, but to put it in God, who gives us all things abundantly to enjoy. 18. Recommend them to do good, to be rich in good works, to have liberality, generosity, 19. and thus to lay up for the future a treasure placed on a solid foundation, so that to grasp true life.
Let's remember:
Amassing wealth for pride is simply unsuitable and incompatible with the Christian life. Nature itself does not tolerate this kind of attitude. Amassing goods is not a problem in itself. It is the misuse that is made of it that is to blame. It is God who is the true provider of goods. It was God who blessed and enriched Abraham, Joseph, David, Solomon and many other biblical characters. The problem with wealth is that it requires a well-disposed mind, well-prepared to receive wealth. For those who are not destined for wealth, their hearts swell with pride and they end up leaning on their possessions and neglecting God. The rich should not be proud, and should not put their hope in uncertain riches, but put it in God, who abundantly gives us all things to enjoy. But who is the rich? Everyone is rich. Each of us carries a richness that characterizes his personality. Some are very wise, polite, intelligent… others are enterprising, imaginative, spiritual, helpful in short, wealth is not characterized only by material goods or financial means. Let us be rich in good works, let us have the liberality, the generosity and the humility to amass eternal riches, those which never perish. Excellent Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
