Theme: “Christian obedience increases faith“
Text: James 1:22-25
22. Practice the word, and do not merely listen to it, deceiving yourselves with false reasonings. 23. For if anyone listens to the word and does not put it into practice, he is like a man who looks in a mirror at his natural face, 24. and who, having looked at himself, goes away, and immediately forget what it was. 25. But he who gazes into the perfect law, the law of freedom, and perseveres, not being a forgetful listener, but putting himself to work, he will be happy in his activity.
Let's remember:
Several of our attitudes condemn us and yet we are not careful. Our facts and gestures place us in the rank of incredulous and even sometimes in the rank of disbelievers if I am not mistaken. Each time we manage to refuse to recognize as true the love, the grace, the forgiveness, the salvation, the power of God; this disobedience makes us forgetful listeners. This kind of rebellion is an obstacle in our journey of faith. If not how can we take the time to read, to listen to the Word of God without putting it into practice? Isn't it disbelief if not rebellion? This is the plausible explanation for our decline or stagnation in faith. Certainly, there are those who forget because of the low retention capacity linked to a degenerative memory disease; but for the rest, let us make the effort to practice even one verse a day; after a few weeks, our progress will be observed. Let's read, listen to and practice the Word of God without falling into intellectual reasoning that annihilates the growth of faith. Reasoning, like doubt, is the friend of disobedience, which itself is the poison of faith and its growth. Excellent Sunday of obedience to God. Amen Alain Louz.-
