Theme: “Christian obedience increases faith“ Text: John 8:28-29

28. Jesus therefore said unto them, When ye shall lift up the Son of man, then ye shall know what I am, and that I do nothing on my own, but speak as the Father has taught me . 29. He who sent me is with me; he didn't leave me

alone, because I always do what pleases him.

Let's remember:

Jesus Christ is our perfect model of obedience. He never turned from his Father's will. He obeyed unto death; and even until the death of the cross. In addition, the obedience of Jesus Christ went through a great humiliation. For his obedience to be effective, he had to be stripped of his holiness and put on sin. He had to get stinky with sin; that he was vilified and reduced to the rank of malefactor. He was stripped naked, beaten, insulted then crucified in the middle of 2 brigands. Although innocent, he should not say a word so that his obedience was complete if not a simple justification was enough for him to be released. He would only have had to have denied his rank as a son of God for him to be freed and left alive. Hallelujah, obedience was his trademark. Wherefore also God exalted him supremely, and gave him the name which is above every name. Jesus' faith did not waver through his obedience because obedience increases faith. At the end of his obedience, the world understood that he is the Son of God. Luke 23:47. “The centurion, seeing what had happened, glorified God, and said, Surely this man was righteous”.
