Theme: “Characteristics of Christian Community Growth” Text: 1 John 1:5-7

5. The news we have heard from him, and which we bring to you, is that God is light, and there is no darkness in him. 6. If we say we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we are lying, and we are not practicing the truth. 7. But if we walk in the light, as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

Let's remember:

In a growing community there is no darkness. It is Jesus, the light of the world who illuminates the community and all its members. Everything that is done there respects the standard of the light of Jesus. The daily work is to preserve the light to prevent the evil influence of darkness. There reigns a communion with Jesus but also with the neighbour. But what is light? Indeed, light is transparency, truth, sanctification, love and all that is similar. The light is Jesus Christ, the holy God. Light is holy and wholesome living away from the desires of the flesh. Light is the pressing desire to enter into the eternity of God. To live in the light of Jesus is to agree to read and put into practice the Word of God without forgetting to spread it to others. John 1:12. “But as many as received the light (Jesus), to them that believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, who were born, 13. not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, not of the will of man, but of God". Without the presence of the light that is Jesus, no community can experience growth. Communities that are not in communion with the light (Jesus) walk in darkness and they are not in the truth. But the truth is still Jesus Christ. The faithful who live in the truth sanctify themselves daily; they purify themselves and do not allow sin to sleep outside the door of their hearts.
