Theme: “Characteristics of Christian Community Growth Text: Hebrews 10:35-39

35. So do not forsake your assurance, to which great reward is attached. 36. For you need perseverance, so that after having accomplished the will of God, you obtain what is promised to you. 37. A little longer, a little while: he who is to come will come, and he will not delay. 38. And my righteous shall live by faith; but if he withdraws, my soul takes no pleasure in him. 39. We are not of those who withdraw to perish, but of those who have faith to save their souls.

Let's remember:

There are several characteristics that demonstrate the growth of a Christian community. They are all based on Jesus, the Head of the Church. We recognize that a community experiences growth when its members keep their hope in Jesus, they possess it as an anchor of the soul, sure and solid; since it penetrates beyond the veil (Hebrews 6:19). No member gives up his insurance because no one would want to lose the great remuneration attached to it. And this assurance is that of possessing the greatest wealth that is Jesus Christ better than the goods of this world which perish overnight. Likewise, they know that in the heavenly city there is a great heritage prepared for them. This is how members of growing communities persevere in order to access the reward promised to those who do not let go. The faithful of these communities firmly await the coming of the Savior; they look forward to eternal life. They know that God does not lie, he fulfills his promises; what he promised he always does. They know that the precious appointment of eternal life will not be long; a little while longer: he who is to come will come, and he will not delay. This is how every faithful keeps his faith, as it is written: the just shall live by faith; but if he withdraws, God takes no pleasure in him. Strengthened by this assurance, each one stands firm in the faith. We, too, are bringing our communities to this stage of growth so that we are not those who retreat to perdition, but those who have faith to save their souls. Excellent Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
