Theme : “ Being a role model for other children ”
Text : 1 Thessalonians 1:5-7
5. our gospel not being preached to you in words only, but with power, with the Holy Spirit, and with full persuasion; for you are not unaware that we have shown ourselves thus among you, on your account. 6. And you yourselves have been imitators of me and of the Lord, receiving the word in the midst of many tribulations, with the joy of the Holy Spirit, 7. so that you have become an example for all believers in Macedonia and Achaia.
Let's remember:
To be a model is to imitate, to represent a real person whose resemblances we will look for. It is a concept or object considered as "representative of another", already existing or that we are going to try to build. It is therefore a person quoted or chosen as an example so that we can be inspired by his conduct. When Paul was in Judaism, he was deeply involved, demanding from people the rigorous application of the Torah without exception; he could even endorse the putting to death of Etienne, so much the law demanded it. Caught up by Christ to serve Him, Paul used the same rigor in Christianity. He was more demanding than the disciples of Jesus; who have lived with the Lord. Paul is a model and an example to follow; let us not forget that the typical model remains Jesus Christ. Paul did not preach in words only, but with power, with the Holy Spirit, and with full persuasion. He went out of his way to proclaim the gospel of salvation; at the cost of his life. The tribulations were not a brake that could block his journey. Let's also be role models. Excellent Wednesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
