Theme: “Behold, your King comes”
Text: Psalms 24:1-10
1. Psalm of David. The earth and all that is in it, the world and those who live in it, belong to the LORD. 2. For he founded it on the seas, and established it on the rivers. 3. Who can go up to the mountain of the LORD? Who will rise to his holy place? 4. He who has innocent hands and a pure heart; He who does not betray his soul to lies, And who does not swear to deceive. 5. He will obtain the blessing of the Lord, the mercy of the God of his salvation. 6. This is the portion of the generation that calls upon him, of those who seek your face, of Jacob! 7. Doors, raise up your lintels; Rise up, eternal gates! Let the king of glory enter! 8. Who is this king of glory? -The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. 9. Doors, raise up your lintels; Lift them up, eternal gates! Let the king of glory enter! 10. Who then is this king of glory? -The Lord of hosts: Behold the king of glory!
Let's remember:
Psalm 24 shows God's entry into the human world as glorious Lord and King. He tells us to open wide the lintels of our hearts to welcome the coming King of glory. It is therefore the opportunity to strengthen ourselves, to purify ourselves, the opportunity to sanctify ourselves because the King who is holy cannot dwell in the midst of sin. Some say this psalm celebrated the imminent entry of the ark of the covenant into the temple of God. However, for our part, it is appropriate for us to celebrate the King who has entered our hearts. We also know that David announced the arrival of Christ, the King of kings. At the second coming, Christ will truly appear as the King of glory because “The kingdoms of the world shall be given to our Lord and to his Christ; and he will reign for ever and ever.” Revelation 11:15c. May our hearts ask the King of glory to come and dwell among us. We have an interest in having the King live among us and our countries. When the King is among a people, he takes care of all their daily challenges. Above all, ours is strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. The only King who maintains his subjects flawlessly while other kings are maintained by their subjects. Make your entrance dear King, the door to our heart is wide open. Come and enter! Excellent Sunday. Amen
