Become aware of your identity in Christ

Sunday May 12, 2024

Theme: “Become aware of your identity in Christ

Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17-18

17. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18. And all this is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation.

Let's remember:

At birth, our family identity takes precedence over everything. As we grow, we discover circumstances that change the course of our lives. Starting school brings us several new habits. We abandon others in order to adapt to this situation. Likewise for arriving in the professional world, we take an orientation that changes life. For those who get married, there again, there are several concessions to make to succeed in living in harmony. And, when the children arrive, everything changes again, you have to redo all the settings. In old age too, you have to redo everything and adapt again. Everything is change, everything is movement. When we come to know God's way, when Christ becomes our Lord, we can no longer depend on ourselves. We are born again: new birth implies new clothes (layette), stroller, breast milk… As we grow up, we abandon the identity of baby. “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought as a child, I reasoned as a child; when I became a man, I put an end to the things of a child” (1 Cor 13 :11). Being in Christ, our identity becomes new. We become new creatures. Life will never be the same again. Let us take on the new identity of sanctification, of biblical meditation, of disciples of Christ... Let us change priorities, Christ becomes the center of everything. Have a great Sunday. Amen
