Theme: “Become aware of your identity in Christ”
Text: Hebrews 4:14-16
14. Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us remain steadfast in the faith we profess. 15. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses; on the contrary, he was tempted like us in all things, without committing sin. 16. Let us therefore boldly approach the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace, to help in our need.
Let's remember:
These verses say that we have no excuse for living in sin because the flesh is weak. We all know that our Lord Jesus suffered temptation but he stood his ground. He did not succumb to temptation, rather he asked for help from his Father who is also ours. When weakness wanted to take over his flesh, he sought help from disciples who were spiritually weaker than himself. The secret could be in being open to other members capable of supporting us. Let us extend the torch to other mature Christians to solicit their spiritual support; just as Jesus did when faced with weakness. Help comes from the Lord. Even when asking other Christians, comfort will not come from them but from God. Let us therefore become aware of our belonging to a God who never abandons us. Let us keep the life of prayer and remain attentive to him, we will triumph in the face of temptation without succumbing. Here, what we must remember about our identity is that God is our Father and, as such, he will never let us suffer without helping us. We are His, we are His people, the flock of His pasture. Let us also remember that we have a duty to help each other in order to form a solid chain whose links would resist reprisals from the enemy. Finally, let us know that our identity requires us to live sanctification by counting on the strength of God. Have a great Thursday. Amen
