Theme : “Be filled with the Holy Spirit” Text : Ephesians 5:15-18
15. Take heed, then, to behave circumspectly, not like fools, but like wise men; 16. redeem the time, for the days are evil. 17. Therefore do not be thoughtless, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18. Do not get drunk on wine: it is debauchery. Be, on the contrary, filled with the Spirit;
Let's remember:
God wants us to be filled with the Holy Spirit. For his part, God places at our disposal the full flow of the Spirit; even if it is up to us to make good use of it but above all to ensure that we remain filled. It is possible to grieve the Holy Spirit if we walk according to the flesh. Behaviors that do not honor the holiness of God do not increase us, rather they quench the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19). By quenching the Spirit, we are referring to rendering it inoperative. God wants us to stay away from works of the flesh that grieve His Spirit. Let us not be fools but have the wisdom to live our faith under the anointing of the Holy Spirit of God. Let us rather adopt circumspection, this attitude of prudent restraint like wise men. The weather is so bad, let's be wise and quick to go to prayer. Let us not follow the daily course of this life but always renew our intelligence to anchor ourselves to the Word of God. Let's not get drunk on wine, it's debauchery; for he who is drunk can no longer be filled with the Spirit, rather he is led by wine. And the wine leads to the works of the flesh. Let us instead be drunk with the Holy Spirit. He who is drunk on the Holy Spirit allows himself to be led by the Spirit towards the works of the Spirit: such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, benignity, faithfulness, meekness, temperance ; sanctification. Excellent Pentecost Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
