Theme: “Be filled with the Holy Spirit Text: Romans 8:5-11

5. Those, indeed, who live according to the flesh, are fond of the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the spirit are fond of the things of the spirit. 6. And the affection of the flesh is death, while the affection of the spirit is life and peace; 7. For the affection of the flesh is enmity against God, because it does not submit to the law of God, nor even can. 8. But those who live according to the flesh cannot please God. 9. For you, you do not live according to the flesh, but according to the spirit, if at least the Spirit of God dwells in you. If someone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him. 10. And if Christ be in you, the body is indeed dead because of sin, but the spirit is life because of righteousness. 11. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Christ from the dead will also quicken your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Let's remember:

A body filled with the Holy Spirit is one that yearns for heavenly things while in this world. It is also the one who knows how to follow the orientations of God, received from the holy scriptures. It is still the one who deprives himself of the desires of the flesh and who every day is fond of the things of the spirit. He is a person who fights against the weakness of the flesh, he fights against the life of sin. He is a person who treats his body harshly; it holds him in subjection to the Spirit for fear of missing the mark. God forbids us to be carnal; instead he wants us to be filled with the Holy Spirit and become spiritual. He who is carnal is dead, he cannot submit to God because they are opposite terminals, there is no bond of cohesion between the two. One chases the other and vice versa. This is why those who live according to the flesh cannot please God; they can't even. However, it is possible to leave the life according to the flesh (death) to settle in the camp of God; the camp of those who are filled with the Holy Spirit. If the Spirit of God dwells in us then we do not live according to the flesh but according to the spirit because if someone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him. If the Spirit of God dwells in us, he will also give life to our mortal bodies, he will strip our members of their carnal desires to inculcate in them the life of sanctification. Excellent Thursday.
