Appearances of Jesus after his resurrection

Monday April 10, 2023

Theme: “Appearances of Jesus after his resurrection Text: Mark 16:9-11

9. Jesus, being resurrected on the morning of the first day of the week, appeared first to Mary of Magdala, from whom he had cast out seven demons. 10. She went and told them that had been with him, and they were grieving and weeping. 11. When they heard that he lived, and that she had seen him, they did not believe him.

Let's remember:

In the first appearance of Jesus recounted by Mark, there is an exposition of the contrast between the credulity of Mary of Magdala and the disbelief of those who wept. Jesus first appeared to Mary of Magdala, from whom he had cast out seven demons. At his first appearance, Jesus comes to make a kind of inspection of Mary's life and to see if she has not backslidden. Thank God, Mary is very concerned about the fate of her Lord. Fortunately, moreover, his Lord and ours, comes to make an appearance to him to appease his concerns. When Jesus makes an appearance in our lives, he brings faith and a new surge of moral comfort; it provides the support that was lacking; he comes to reassure us. When Jesus makes his appearance in our lives, let us have the joy of going to testify to him and to tell others about this marvelous visit from the Lord. Jesus does not appear in a life just for nothing; he does it to fulfill his Word which says to us: “…And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the world. Matthew 28:20b. We can also say that the appearance of Jesus is a review of the frightened troops in order to reinvigorate them. Obviously, after this apparition, a new wave of the Spirit, a new dynamic took hold of Mary, making her the first post-resurrection evangelist of Jesus. She was the first to preach the gospel of the resurrection when others doubted. Excellent Monday. Amen Alain Louz.-
