Theme: “Age: a factor of engagement or disengagement in the work of God” Text: 1 Timothy 4:12-16
12. Let no one despise your youth; but be a model for the faithful, in word, in conduct, in charity, in faith, in purity. 13. Until I come apply yourself to reading, exhorting, teaching. 14. Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of hands by the congregation of elders. 15. Take care of these things, give yourself entirely to them, so that your progress will be evident to all. 16. Watch over yourself and your teaching; persevere in these things, for by doing so you will save yourself, and you will save those who listen to you.
Let's remember:
Each worker of God must consider the calling that others have received. Even though they entered God's work at a very young age, let's not minimize them. Let us respect the field of action of our neighbor despite his small age. It is not good to interfere in the action of our neighbor who exercises his calling on the grounds that he is too young or has not been well formed; or that he lacks experience. Let us know that it is God who calls, it is He who qualifies, it is He who endows the assets essential to the exercise of the ministry received. There are many who like to impose themselves in the service of God because they are elders and they would have begun the work that the young people do. They take steps to keep control even though they no longer have the revelation or do something in the routine. It is very important to inject new blood into groups where monotony reigns. Groupings that have age as a selection criterion still do not lead to great performances because inspiration is not linked to age. Therefore, let us not neglect the gift that is in us; even if it is fought. Let us not give up because of the fights and persecutions carried out against us by those who neglect our age. If there are some who minimize the age of the youngest, conversely, many young people find it fruitless to work with big or old people. Being very old does not diminish intelligence; rather, the experience gained is a propitious tool that helps to resolve questions that younger people would find difficult. It is in old age that we acquire greater wisdom because we take time to think before reacting. Let us reconcile our positions and do not fall into the conflict of generations. Excellent Saturday.
