Theme: “Age: a factor of engagement or disengagement in the work of God” Text: Ecclesiastes 11:8-10
8. If therefore a man live many years, let him rejoice all these years, and think of the days of darkness which shall be many; all that will happen is vanity. 9. (12:1) Young man, rejoice in your youth, rejoice in your heart in the days of your youth, walk in the ways of your heart and according to the sights of your eyes; but know that for all this God will call you to judgment. 10. (12:2) Banish sorrow from your heart, and remove evil from your body; for youth and dawn are vanity.
Let's remember:
Age should not lead us to ignorance or disbelief. There is no valid age-related reason for unconscious slackness. If God fills our heart with his Word, it is so that we can use it to build security barriers that would prevent the intrusion of the enemy into our lives. The ravages of the enemy are very evocative of our naivety, our carelessness and lack of vigilance since we open the door to sin. Let us rejoice in our youth yes, but only when we practice doing good. If we take evil as a preference and way of life, we should not rejoice because the retribution will be strong and hurtful. May age not blind us to the point of wandering. Sorrow should not envelop us in view of our advancing age without our life improving. There are several bad behaviors that we must banish that we attribute to age; basically it is a lack of maturity; let's stop accusing our age. Let us walk in the ways of our heart but in the direction that God wants. May the gaze of our eyes be focused on salvation and eternal life. Our age should not close the door to the kingdom of God. God will call us to judgment not for our age but for the despicable and immature actions that make us eternal irresponsible young people. Youth and dawn are vanity and pursuit of the wind. If therefore we live many years, let us rejoice all these years, and think of the days of darkness which will be many; all that will happen is vanity. Excellent Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
