Theme: “A church that bears fruit”
Text: Jeremiah 17:7-8
7 Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD.
8 He is like a tree planted by the waters, which stretches out its roots toward the stream; He does not notice the heat when it comes, And his foliage remains green; In the year of drought he has no fear, And he never ceases to bear fruit.
Let's remember:
A church that bears fruit. Indeed, the church can be represented as a fruit tree whose branches are the faithful. The fruits are not attached to the trunk or the roots but it is the branches which bear fruit, with a few exceptions. From there, we can judge a church by seeing the actions of its faithful. When a faithful person trusts in the Lord, he bears fruit. When many faithful sanctify themselves daily, the church bears fruit. When the church bears much fruit, it produces good works because the environment is peaceful, soothing, kind, filled with the Holy Spirit. A fruitful church lets God act at all times and the faithful follow the movement and direction of the Holy Spirit. No other oiled mechanism controls the life of such a church except the action of the Holy Spirit. In such a church, the man who trusts in the Lord is blessed; and the LORD is his hope. He is like a tree planted by the waters, which stretches out its roots toward the stream; It does not notice the heat when it comes, and its foliage remains green; in the year of drought he has no fear, and he never ceases to bear fruit. For a tree to grow without difficulty, it must be watered often. However, when a tree is near a stream of water, it is automatically watered by the stream. God is the watercourse of the church. It is God who makes the church grow and who brings freshness within it. The branches await the supply of the roots of the Holy Spirit to supply themselves with sap, in order to give pretty leaves and fruits. The Holy Spirit (root) takes the fuel from God (water) and transmits it to the faithful. Let us abandon ourselves to the action of the Holy Spirit. Excellent Saturday. Amen
