A church that bears fruit

Wednesday October 25, 2023

Theme: “A church that bears fruit Text: Galatians 5:22-23

22. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, temperance; 23. the law is not against these things.

Let's remember:

The fruit of the Spirit does not come to live in us randomly. It is the presence and work of the Holy Spirit in us. The fruit of the Spirit solidifies our relationship with God but also with our neighbor without forgetting the relationship of our own flesh with our spirit. When the fruit of the Spirit is functional in us, our spirit will be as well disposed as our flesh. Note that it is through the contribution of the Holy Spirit that we access the fruit of the Spirit. Donald G. wrote that: “The development of the fruit of trees takes time, it is brought to maturity with the help of external elements: the sun, the rain, the soil. Gifts, on the other hand, are conferred by the generosity of someone outside of us.” Yes, it takes time to develop the fruit of the Spirit. These nine qualities forming the fruit of the Spirit are the work of our aspiration in search of God. Sometimes our effort doesn't count because God is sovereign and can seize anyone he wants to use. Let us align the nine qualities of the fruit of the Spirit to be beautiful before the face of God; in front of our neighbor then our life will be fulfilled in terms of personal discipline. In short, the fruit of the Spirit is always written in the singular whereas it involves several enumerated qualities. Like a box containing several grains, the fruit of the Spirit contains within it several virtues essential to spiritual growth. We must die and rise again with Jesus Christ to see the fruit of the Spirit bloom in us. The fruit within the church is borne by its faithful. Do we harbor love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, temperance? Have a great Wednesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
